The AquaPur tank is used for storing drinking water for your home. AquaPur uses silver-ion technology developed by Valrom to prevent the development of microflora in the storage tank. It requires minimal maintenance operations and can provide safer, cleaner water for long periods. The interaction stages are as follows: the active layer is exposed to the immersion medium at the interface with the liquid. Ag+ ions diffuse into the immersion medium. The concentration gradient increases and equilibrium is established at a level of approx. 23 ppm (parts per million). The time to reach the equilibrium concentration is approx. 2448 hours, depending on the amount of liquid and the recirculation speed. Microorganisms are exposed to contact with Ag. Ag ions interfere with the microorganisms’ reproduction mechanism, inhibiting their development. – other Ag+ ions are released as they are consumed. This product is treated with silver-based biocides and has been tested in accordance with ISO 22196:2011.

Depending on the selected capacity, aquaPur® provides a buffer volume of 300, 500, or 750 L of water. This amount covers consumption during periods when the water supply is shut off or reduces the number of pump starts from the supply. Sizing is done considering that, on average, one person consumes approx. 150 L of water per day. This volume must be increased if you also use the water from the buffer tank for other activities (garden watering, etc.).
The tank is built as a monobloc (without joints) to ensure tightness and reduce the risk of leakage. It is made of 3 distinct layers:
- outer polyethylene layer for good mechanical strength;
- intermediate expanded polyethylene layer, which reduces condensation formation on the surface (thermal insulation);
- inner polyethylene layer that incorporates inorganic compounds with Ag ions to block the development of microorganisms.
Silver’s ability to inhibit the development of microorganisms has been known since antiquity, being used to ensure water potability. The active agent is a mixture of Ag-based inorganic compounds embedded in the material mass. In the presence of water, silver ions are released slowly and inhibit the development of microorganisms by interfering with the cellular mechanisms responsible for multiplication. Active Ag technology has a dual effect: it inhibits the development of microorganisms on the tank surface and preserves the potability of the stored medium. The action extends over a very wide range of microorganisms—over 25 classes of bacteria, algae, fungi, molds, etc. Studies carried out in specialized institutes (Cantacuzino Institute, Bucharest; Hygiene Institut des Ruhrgebiets Trink und Badewasserhygiene, Gelsenkirchen, Germany; Industrial Microbiological Services LTD, Stafford, England) have shown that within the first 24 hours of contact, aquaPur® ensures a reduction of approx. 99.5% of cultures of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Legionella pneumophila.
The tank is available in 3 geometries with volumes of 300, 500, and 750 L. It is provided at the base with preparation for attaching a drain tap.
